Pig heart

Paint the daffodils black and

lie amongst them,

your clock one

tick away from stopping.

Morning dew infuse your pores

the nucleus of your wellbeing

soothe away blue for one goddamn minute.

You should’ve worn sepia today

watch life seep into memory

to get you through

anything must be better

than heavy arms

and a stone heart

dropped in the river

where we last met

a consciousness laden with the virus

trying to colonise your mind like bees

or love.

Reject it

like a pig heart

in the wrong body –

no use to anyone like this.
